The Process

In crafting the brand identity for the 2021 Quincentennial Commemoration Projects (QCP), Pixelhub employed a detailed and holistic approach. The process began with an extensive research phase, focusing on the 34 key historical events commemorated. This deep dive into the historical and cultural contexts of these events was crucial in shaping a nuanced brand narrative.

With these insights, the studio embarked on designing a distinct visual identity, highlighted by custom illustrations that captured the essence of each event. This creative phase led to the production of a comprehensive brand manual, which set the standards for both digital and print marketing materials.

To ensure a seamless and cohesive brand experience across various platforms, Pixelhub meticulously applied these guidelines to all elements of the brand's presence, including social media, print materials, the official website, and dynamic motion graphics. This integrated approach guaranteed a consistent and impactful brand identity for the 2021 QCP.

The Results

The 2021 QCP was effectively marketed to a broad audience, significantly enhancing the visibility and reach of the event. The national memory project's digital library and the online lecture portal proved to be invaluable tools for preserving and disseminating Philippine history and culture. The branding developed by Pixelhub Creative Design Studio was instrumental in this success, leaving a durable imprint on the nation's cultural and historical landscape. Furthermore, the Philippine International Quincentennial Conference (PIQC) attracted over 1,500 participants, including scholars, government officials, and the general public. This diverse turnout underscored the event's wide appeal and significance.

The Philippine International Quincentennial Conference

Situating the Filipino and the Philippines in 1521

The National Quincentennial Committee is promoting a Filipino perspective on the first circumnavigation of the world. They emphasize the historical compassion of Filipinos, as seen when our ancestors aided Magellan-Elcano's needy crew during their arduous Pacific crossing. This trait resonates through our history in various acts of humanitarianism, such as the Siege of Baler, President Quezon's refuge to Jews in 1939, and President Quirino's assistance to White Russians in 1949.

Additionally, this year marks the 500th anniversary of Lapulapu's triumph in the Battle of Mactan, a defining moment for Filipino resilience and unity that spurred on the Philippine Revolution and the birth of the nation.

To honor these milestones, the committee is hosting the Philippine International Quincentennial Conference from October 20 to December 17, 2021. The conference will explore the Victory at Mactan, the introduction of Christianity, and the Philippines' role in the first circumnavigation, themed “Situating the Filipino and the Philippines in 1521.”
